Chiefs of staff sit at the top of the political staff hierarchy. In the context of the Office of the Prime Minister or Premier, the chief of staff is responsible for running an organization that provides policy and political advice, communications and speechwriting, and logistics for events and travel. Both a manager of personnel and a key advisor, the role of chief of staff has gained increasing attention in both academic and media circles. This special roundtable will shed further light on the role of chief of staff by engaging directly with people who have held the position.
